This is a prophetic vision that I had while attending a prayer meeting at the Watchman Prayer Furnace in Gainesville, FL last Friday night. I was in a daydream-like trance when I saw the vision. It went a little something like this:
I saw a tribe of people (some of whom I recognized and with whom I have already shared this vision) dressed in grass skirts. They were wearing face paint and dancing around a fire pit full of logs (with no fire). There were spectators who were watching the dance. The spectators kept pouring glass after glass of water on the fire pit. The tribe paid no attention to the spectators, and simply kept praising their God and asking for fire from heaven.
At first the crowd was perplexed, and then they poked fun, and finally they became downright nasty by shouting insults and cursing the tribe. This went on for some time, but the tribe was undeterred.
Finally, the clouds parted and fire fell from heaven consuming the wet logs in the fire pit. To the astonishment of the crowd, the tribal members began leaping into the fire. Their grass skirts caught fire, but the tribe was not harmed. Instead, they became bold and began to run through the crowd performing what looked like a mosh pit maneuver.
Many in the crowd became engulfed in flame. Many more ran in terror. The tribe began to disburse deeper and deeper into the crowd catching more and more people with the fire that was burning on their clothes. Then the vision flashed to a picture of the globe from the perspective of outer space, and I could see the light of the fire begin to spread all over the world.
It doesn’t take a prophetic giant to interpret this vision, but I think it is an indication of what is on God’s heart in this hour. He is seeking those who will burn for Him, and who will contend for His fire regardless of the personal cost.
