A Perspective On Haiti

Posted by Jonathan Greene On January - 18 - 2010

11Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. 12The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.     (Genesis 1:11-12)

I’ve heard the word “judgement” thrown around a lot of late regarding the situation in Haiti.  I’ve heard it said by some people in prominent Bible teaching positions that it was God’s will for Haiti to be destroyed.  While I love and respect these teachers, I have a different perspective altogether.

Connecting With God

Posted by Jonathan Greene On September - 2 - 2009

connectwithgodIn his book God is the Gospel, John Piper offers the following:

The critical question for our generation–and for every generation–is this:  If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends that you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ was not there?

I’m living for the reality of a generation rising that will forsake all else for the sake of knowing Him.  I’m exceedingly zealous toward that end.  All over the earth people are arising who are saying, “Nothing is right, nothing is worthy, nothing is entertaining enough for me without the person of Christ.”

Is the church to be relegated to the buildings in which we gather and the ceremonies that we perform, or will we once again connect to Jesus and begin to transform the world from the inside out.  I believe it’s already happening.

The Glory of the Wasted Life

Posted by Jonathan Greene On June - 3 - 2009

prostrateWhen you hear the phrase “wasted life” it conjures up images of your mother and father standing over you and yelling about how art school will never produce a paying job, or how your boyfriend/girlfriend is a dead-end road.  “You’re wasting your life,” they say.  In short, we associate the phrase with rebellion, negativity, and bad decisions.  Imagine my surprise recently when the Lord told me that He wanted me to waste my life on Him.

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 16:25)

Prophetic People Pregnant With Revelation

Posted by Jonathan Greene On May - 28 - 2009

virgin-mary-2I was thinking about the plight of the Virgin Mary today.  The idea that a girl would become pregnant in that culture outside of wedlock created a plethora of social problems.  First, and surely foremost in her mind, is the very real possibility that she would be stoned to death.  After that comes the reality that she would likely be slandered, gossiped about, and put down for the remainder of her life.

In that moment, it became obvious to me that prophetic people face a similar dilemma.  We become “pregnant” with a revelation of the Lord that many in the church are woefully unprepared to accept.  To say that our prophecies come from the Lord makes no more sense to many than to say that a woman became pregnant by the Lord.  The world, and many in the church, simply do not have the faith to accept such things.

New Look, Same Writers

Posted by Jonathan Greene On May - 25 - 2009

binocularsYou’ll probably have noticed by now that I’ve updated the blog with a fresh new theme and some new features.  I think you’ll like the result.  The same great writers will be participating in the blog, with a few possible additions as the days go on.

My heart is to keep this blog on the cutting edge of innovation.  As such, we will from time to time be implementing new designs.  For this occasion, I chose the beautiful and functional Scarlett Theme from Web2feel.com.  You know how I have liked custom themes in the past, but this theme was beautiful enough and functional enough that I didn’t need to customize anything.  Sometimes it’s best not to re-invent the wheel.

Take some time to browse the new features.  We have carousel at the top of the page with all of the recent prophetic words, vimeo video embeds, and a live twitter feed at the bottom.  I think you’ll like the effect.  Happy reading.

Army With Banners

Posted by Jonathan Greene On May - 21 - 2009

banners1Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners? (Song of Solomon 6:10)

I sat and began reading this verse in my quiet time this morning, and the Lord began to open up revelation to me about the end-time prophetic army which is the fully consecrated bride of Christ.  He began to show me attributes of that army from this verse:

Seated With Christ

Posted by Jonathan Greene On May - 13 - 2009

seatedAnd God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.(Ephesians 2:6-7)

This world in which we currently live is headed for disaster.  I don’t speak that word as a negative prophecy, but rather as an understanding of eschatology and the eventuality of all things.  The world mourns the holocaust (and rightfully so) where millions of Jews were murdered, but doesn’t blink an eye at the murder of fifty million babies.  We embrace sexual immorality and label it diversity.  We glorify the logic of man as being “enlightened” and cast down the truth of the Lord to the streets where it is trampled underfoot.  Some say we need a change.

The Fiery Furnace Of His Love

Posted by Jonathan Greene On May - 4 - 2009

furnacePlace me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
its jealousy as enduring as the grave.
Love flashes like fire,
the brightest kind of flame. (Song of Solomon 8:6)

I was praying this verse today and the Lord began to work on my heart with a word picture of sorts.  He told me that His intention was for me to internalize the love that flashes like fire and produces the brightest kind of flame, His love.  When He applies his seal over my heart with that flame locked inside, it produces a burning fiery furnace.
