Intercessory Missionaries: The SAPPER Squad

Posted by Jonathan Greene On January - 24 - 2009

Part of what we’re doing here on this blog is casting a vision for what we believe is our expression of intercession.  You can log in to the forum and take a look at the extended version of the SAPPER vision, but the term is an acronym which stands for Stragegic Application of Prayer and Personal sacrifice Evoking Repentance.

In military terms, a SAPPER is a combat engineer trained to destroy enemy fortifications and clear the way for the infantry to advance.  Likewise, a Revolution Brigade SAPPER is a highly trained intercessor whose mission is to destroy strongholds, bind demonic influences, and prepare the way for the Apostolic ministry to come forth and change nations.

Due to the nature of this type of ministry, it’s absolutely essential that SAPPERS be selfless, radically devoted  prayer warriors who possess an over-the-top anointing for prayer ministry forged by living a fasted lifestyle in communion with the Lord.   Their mission is to go into a country….with just their squad…..and do spiritual battle with principalities and powers that rule over the region.  It’s not childs play.

Our vision is to begin mobilizing teams of SAPPERS in advance of the international missions trips of Greg Pusateri, our Apostolic father here at the Revolution Brigade, by the end of the year.  You heard me right.  The end of the year. Their mission will be to travel to whatever country Greg is going to, and to demolish any spiritual opposition to the Gospel that may be in place using the tools of prayer and fasting.

Ideally, each squad would have members who major in intercession, prophetic ministry, word of wisdom/knowledge, and discerning of spirits, as well as a helps specialist to coordinate the arrival and itinerary of the missionary “infantry.”  The model is taken from the military “Advon” team, which is an highly trained team of specialists who proceed any major military deployment into a foreign country for the purpose of preparation and intelligence gathering.

It’s warfare.  It’s missions.  What’s not to love?  Now, who is hard core enough to embrace that vision?

Raising Up 5000 Prophetic Warriors

Posted by Jonathan Greene On January - 22 - 2009

I was praying and fasting, and the Lord spoke to me.  It was an audible voice, at least to me, which marks the first audible voice I’ve ever heard from the Lord.  I was weeping and besieging God to loose a prophetic army of radical young people who would live in total consecration and shake loose the demonic grip on our nation, and the Lord said to me, “Believe Me for 5000 warriors.”

My first thought was, “It might as well be a million.”  But then, my faith began to rise up.  I found myself weeping and shouting, “Your will be done, Father!”

I believe that the promise of the Lord to me and to those associated with this movement is that the Lord will raise up 5000 prophetic warriors, radically consecrated and walking in Nazarite power, to loose the hold of darkness upon our nation.  I believe that this Prophetic Army will advance upon Capitol Hill, The White House, and the various State Legislatures, and will bring an end to abortion and the homosexual agenda.  In the process of waging war, I believe the church will be purified from apathy and disinterest.

I tell you, the fire of God is dancing in my bones right now.  He’s given me a message.  Now, I’m believing Him for a voice!

Soldiers of Christ

Posted by Jonathan Greene On March - 24 - 2008

Soldier with Burden“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. And as Christ’s soldier, do not let yourself become tied up in the affairs of this life, for then you cannot satisfy the one who has enlisted you in his army.” (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

There’s so much junk in the way of doing what God has called us to do. As an adult, it’s a little easier. I don’t have to worry about popularity, school, peer pressure, or any of that stuff. Still, I’ve been in your shoes. I know what things conflict you, and what challenges you have to face in order to fulfill your calling.

A “brigade” is a large group of soldiers. Our intention here is to raise up an army of young believers who will be sold out for the cause: to advance the Kingdom and glorify Christ. We chose the military theme on purpose because we recognize that in order to achieve the goals that we’ve set out to accomplish, we have to discipline ourselves and become mentally tough and fully devoted, much like soldiers preparing for war.

When the verse from 2 Timothy above talks about “enduring suffering,” that’s exactly what it means: there is a price to be paid if we are to reach our objective. In a physical war, every inch of ground is bought with the blood of the soldiers who are attempting to advance against the enemy. In our spiritual war, every square inch of ground that we conquer has been purchased by the blood of Jesus, along with our sweat and tears.

I’ve been a real soldier in a real war. I can testify that, while you are fighting, nothing else matters. You can’t worry about what your family is doing back home. You can’t worry about your mom and dad, your girlfriend, or your bank account. The only thing that matters is accomplishing the mission and staying alive. Anything that doesn’t accomplish one of those goals is a distraction, and should be treated as such.

God tells us in the scripture above that, if we hope to accomplish the goals that He has for us, then we need to have a similar devotion to the cause. It also tells us that the only way to please your commanding officer (Jesus) is to set aside every other concern in life and fight the war.

We’ll talk more about this in youth group. Get ready. There’s going to be a battle, and we’re all going to be involved.

For now, if you want to get a head start, you can dive into our basic training posts and start learning the skills of a spiritual warrior

Welcome to the Revolution

Posted by Jonathan Greene On March - 23 - 2008

SwordThe Revolution Brigade is the youth ministry of Grace Community Fellowship in Starke, FL. We’re a progressive, spirit-filled church dedicated to equipping the Saints. As such, our youth ministry will be a reflection of the general vision and direction given by the Lord to our Pastor, Greg Pusateri.

If the title of the blog sounds a little militant to you, that’s exactly what we’re shooting for. We’re dealing with a generation of youth who have been assaulted from the word go by the enemy. We intend to fight, and through the dominion given to us by Jesus, we intend to win.

We’re going to be putting a lot more information on this blog over the next couple of weeks in anticipation of our official launch on April 2nd, 2008. Please become a soldier by subscribing to the email feed, and offer up some prayer to the Lord on our behalf. It’s our intention to draw a line in the sand for the cause of Christ. Welcome to the revolution.
